RESIDENCIES

During her artist residency at SixTwelve, Casimir created and lead communal workshops focusing on the relationship of food and dance, including Reclaiming the Lakou: A Writing and Movement Workshop. Additionally, Casimir curated the program, First We Dance, in 2019, a series bringing together dance and culinary artists to collaborate on a shared afternoon of movement, nourishment and community.

During her Ragdale Fellowship, Casimir produced Marasa, a performance installation following the journey of twins who are identical and mirrors of each other, or Marasas in Haitian Vodou Cosmology. Throughtout the piece, the Marasas navigate migration by way of Vodou and Catholicism, culture, music, dance, gumbo, people, and blood memory.
