CULTURAL EXCHANGE PROGRAM

From 2017-2019, Casimir produced and organized the collaboration of Dance to Save Lives | HaitiDansco and Djaspora Productions and Links Hall through the Links Hall’s Links to Haiti Cultural Exchange Program.

LINKS TO HAITI | 2017-2019

The ultimate goal was to connect artists from Jacmel with artists in Chicago and New Orleans in creation and workshop.

During the summer of 2017, Casimir traveled to Jacmel, Haiti to begin research and the creation of a multi-year cultural exchange program supported by a National Performance Network Performing Americas Creative Exchange Mobility Grant. Casimir established a collaboration and partnership between HaitiDansCo/Dance To Save Lives, Diaspora Productions, and Links Hall.

2017

Casimir expanded the program in collaboration with Links Hall, Project Tool, HaitiDansco, and Black Arts Retreat. Together, they hosted a 10-day cultural exchange, bringing together artists, cultural workers, and scholars.

2018

The program featured dance classes, performances, herbal workshops, community art classes, and opportunities to learn about the island’s rich history and culture.

Casimir organized a multi-city tour for HaitiDansco with Links Hall acting as the lead organization. The tour performed in five locations: Links Hall (Chicago), Cultural Ties Festival/Dillard University (New Orleans), Legacy Arts Project (Pittsburgh), Urban Creative Arts (Newark) and Queensborough Community College (New York).
